TFB 012: Winning Shark Tank was just the start of our story

With Lukas Sanchez of Mission Belt.

These guys, based out of Utah, have a business with a real purpose. They make beautiful bespoke belts and give a chunk of their profits to support people living in some of the poorest parts of the world.

But this isn’t just a nice charity sideline for them, it is entirely why the business was created in the first place – with a mission to do good in the world.

But how do you position a business like that? Is it a fashion business first with a social conscience or is it a campaign to do good that just happens to sell belts – admittedly very cool belts that don’t even have holes (more on that later).

Social enterprises are becoming more and more popular so if you’ve got one of these businesses you’re going to learn a lot from Lukas about the importance of identifying your different audiences, your messages and how to create an overall brand story that is clear – not something that confuses people.

Oh and they also won big on Shark Tank – the US version of Dragons Den – so they’re not just some well-meaning do-gooders, these guys are the real deal.

Buckle up and prepare to learn!
